NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course

Whether you are talking about Trap, Skeet, or Sporting Clays shooting clays is just fun!  If you have never experienced a day shooting shotgun with your friends you are definitely missing one of life’s greatest pleasures.  This NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting class is at least 9 hours long and contains both classroom and range time instruction.  Shooters will be able to experience a variety of different types of shotguns and learn about their unique action types and functions.

Topics that will be taught include learning how to operate a shotgun safely, different shotgun parts and operation, shotgun shell components, shotgun shell malfunctions, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting at straight away and angled targets, cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.

If you own a shotgun, please bring it with you along with eye protection, ear protection, and 100 shells of 7½ or 8.

During the class you will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and the NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet.  At the successful completion of class you will receive an NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Certificate.

If you are interested in becoming a shotgun instructor this is the first of a series of classes you will need to pass to become an instructor.
