This NRA Basic Shotgun course is ten hours long and includes both classroom and range time instruction on how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. This is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. Students will learn the NRA rules for safe gun handling, parts of a shotgun, different types of shotguns, operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, and how to clean a shotgun. In addition to classroom instruction students will complete a live fire training exercise at a range with an NRA Certified Instructor.
Students will receive the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting handbook and the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program book. At the successful completion of the class, students will also receive an NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course certificate. This class includes a live-fire exercise so bring your shotgun and ammunition (50 shells, shot size 7.5 or 8, no slugs). When you arrive, please leave your ammunition in your car.
