Congratulations on obtaining your Maryland Wear and Carry Permit. You might be wondering when does it need to be renewed and how do you go about renewing it? Don’t worry, we can help.
Your initial Maryland Wear and Carry Permit expires on the last day of the holder’s birth month following two years after the date the permit is issued.
A Handgun Permit may be renewed for successive periods of three years each it, at the time of an application for renewal, the applicant possesses the qualifications for the issuance of a permit and pays the renewal fee.
The renewal process should be started 90 business days from expiration of the permit. This is the exact class you need to take to renew your Maryland Wear and Carry Permit. The class is 8-hours long and it is taught in one day. The class is a combination of lecture and range time. Topics that will be taught include state firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, and a shooting component that requires the applicant to demonstrate gun safety and proficiency.
You will need your firearm, holster, concealment garment, mag pouch, three magazines, eye protection, ear protection, and 200 rounds of ammo. If you need to rent a firearm, please let the instructor know.
